Once Upon a Time, there was a baby abandoned to the wild by his human parents. Whatever happened to them, no one knows. Certainly not the boy who ended up learning how to survive through the wolves, whom he called his family.

The boy grew up to be a young man with no love whatsoever for humankind. Seeing the cruelty, greed and disloyalty amongst people hardened him from ever joining their society fully. Animals, he believed, were pure of heart - and it was them who deserved his protection, his love, and his loyalty.

Merciless to humankind, the Huntsman feels no remorse for a human death but feels his heart break every time an animal dies. This is something the Evil Queen uses to her advantage when she hires him to kill the princess Snow White and bring the Queen her heart. The Queen's plan backfires when Snow White proves that she is pure of heart. He lets her go and kills a deer in her place. It is this act that earns him a life of servitude to the Queen when she takes his heart and traps him in her castle.

The Huntsman is known only as that. He carries no human name (that anyone knows of), and chooses not to call himself by anything. He understands the wolves, is often accompanied by one, and dresses in the furs of past kills, those that were necessary to survival. The Huntsman follows the 'Jungle Law' and only kills when he has to. (Though humans are another story.)

In a town called Storybrooke, Maine, there is a man called Graham Humbert. He is the town's sheriff, described as a 'compassionate' man, someone brave and strong and loyal to those he loves and aims to protect. He is relatively easy-going, with a boyish sort of charm, though he does sometimes sport a solemn disposition.

He has always been sheriff for as long as he can remember, and he doesn't think twice about it. He is content to live the way he has, which includes secretly seeing Regina Mills, the town's Mayor.

Sheriff Graham can be found in his usual attire, which includes his sheriff's jacket, uniform, and shiny gold badge. He also rocks the vest. He is usually a little scruffy looking, but he is by no means unapproachable.

Fun fact: Graham's surname, Humbert, is a shout-out to the Huntsman from Disney's Snow White and the Seven Dwarves, whose name was 'Humbert the Huntsman'.
